A true story
Lifting the veil on the dark side of racism
In second grade, 7-year-old Donny has an altercation at recess with a classmate. This schoolyard conflict triggers a series of events that escalate to the highest levels of the school administration and test Donny and his family’s resilience in the face of injustice. In this solo performance told from the point of view of his mother, the playwright Katia Café-Fébrissy, blends the codes of TED Talks, poetry, slam and documentary theatre. Ça rime avec vinaigre (“It rhymes with vinegar”) draws on the real-life experiences of this young boy and his family to highlight the systemic inequalities that persist in our society.
Katia Café-Fébrissy is a Toronto-based independent producer, writer and director working in documentary and feature film and television. For the past few years, she has been developing her theatrical approach and is currently involved in several theatre projects.
