• Directed by Anne-Marie Ouellet

Since its inception, L’eau du bain stands out in the theatrical landscape through its rich and diversified use of sound. Landscape plays, in the true sense of the term, the diptych White Out and La chambre des enfants brings together two plays for two different audiences, both taking place in the same immersive environment.

The first play is conceived for an adult audience, and the second is for children. A room in a small seaside hotel where a woman is seeking refuge is swarmed by children. Each child’s story transforms the space by leaving an imprint on the external and internal landscapes. Based on the same storyline, both pieces seek to navigate the fine line between dreams and reality. The design uses innovative lighting and sound effects to captivate audiences in a dizzying sensory whirlwind.

Company

L’eau du bain is a collective led by Anne-Marie Ouellet (designer, playwright and actress-performer), Thomas Sinou (sound designer and actor-performer) and Nancy Bussières (lighting designer).

The company uses a hybrid artistic language that combines theatre, performance and sonic installation. Innovative tools are designed to allow the artists on stage to actually build the show under the audience’s watchful eye, and with their involvement. With each new creation, new rules are devised and new machines invented to allow for true interaction between the space, the soundscape, the artists, the script, the audience and elements of real life.
