featuring Resident Chef Chris Commandant
Enjoy an evening of Indigenous culinary tradition with a 5-course dinner created by NAC sous-chef, and Resident Chef (fall of 2024), Chris Commandant.
Chris is Kanien’kehá:ka of the Wahta Mohawks First Nations community, located outside of Bala Ontario. A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu culinary program, he has spent his 25-year career fusing the traditional food of the Haudenosaunee with modern cooking techniques to create fresh culinary experiences and teaching the next generation.
For this dinner, we’re proud to announce our partnership with Organic Ocean who’ve provided sustainably sourced Gitanyow sockeye salmon as a special treat for our guests. Located in northwestern British Columbia, Gitanyow Fisheries has a mission to provide high-quality salmon products caught in their sustainable community-run fisheries and to re-invest from every salmon sold into local salmon stewardship.
We’re also excited to announce a unique chance to experience perfectly curated wine pairings for each course from Nk'Mip Cellars. Located just outside Osoyoos, British Columbia, Nk'Mip Cellars is the first Indigenous-owned winery in North America.
Enjoy this unique opportunity to experience Chef Chris Commandant’s distinctive culinary talent, Gitanyow sockeye salmon, and Nk’Mip wines here in Ottawa!
